White As Snow

Well it has happened. For the first time since I started as pastor here in August of 2015, we have canceled a worship service. This was mainly due to the amount of snow that needed to be moved this morning and the lack of time to get said snow moved. But now it is truly a beautiful day!

The new snow and the sun make for a beautiful morning.

The new snow and the sun make for a beautiful morning.

As I shoveled, I found time to enjoy the beauty. That was mainly because I needed to take breaks from shoveling. I guess the winter has caused me to get out of the prime athletic condition I am normally in. I guess I better have a cookie to help. But anyway, l I enjoyed the quiet of the newly fallen snow. I was reminded of the Lord and His renewing work in us. I know we feel like the snow just keeps coming this year. (I mean it does…) But if you can get over having to move it all the time, the snow does give us something new to look at. Things that were maybe brown or dreary are now white and clean. Isn’t that just like God to remind us of that over and over again?

“Come now let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18

Our sins are many, but His grace is sufficient. So maybe all this snow is meant to remind us of His daily, ongoing, sufficient grace that covers our sins. I am so glad He covers mine!

As you spend time at home today, don’t forget to thank Him for His renewing work in your life. All of us need our sins washed “white as snow.”

I hope you have a great day! See you next week.
