Awana COVID Update 11/10/20

Good morning,

We continue to pay attention to all that is going on locally with the pandemic. It has been wonderful to have the kids back here for Awana. Having something that feels somewhat normal has been good for everyone. We have not had any COVID issues in our building as of right now. Praise God!

One of the biggest areas we are watching is the school because that directly impacts what we are doing with Awana. We are a part of a community we love and want to be following along with all that is happening. As you may have heard, the school has been in distance learning for the high school and now much of the elementary school also, due to staffing issues. What I mean is that they have had a few positive cases and with the exposure rules, too many teachers are in quarantine to be able to adequately staff the school. Right now kids up to 2nd grade are in-person, the rest are distance.

What does this mean for us? As of right now, it doesn't change anything for us. If you are not on quarantine because of exposures at school, you are welcome to join us. Obviously if you have a fever or are otherwise ill, please stay home. This is true of any other year also, so no changes there.

The school has stated repeatedly that it is their priority to have kids in person as much as possible. Therefore, I believe any sort of move to full distance would be temporary. However, if the school does go to full distance learning, we would also need to stop Awana at that point. I can't predict, but wanted you to be aware. There are some natural breaks coming with the holidays, which could help this also. As of now, we are moving ahead as normal.

Things are changing all the time, but remember Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We trust him for the details and continue to ask for a safe place for kids to meet. Thanks for praying!

I will update as needed. If you have questions, please reach out to me.
